One of the earliest concepts weââ¬â¢re taught as writers is that we should avoid repetition. From an early age, teachers urge us to vary our word choice to avoid repeating the same words and phrases in our writing. While learning how to vary your word choice and avoid unnecessary repetition is an important part of growing as a writer, deliberate and skillful repetition can be used to great effect by skilled writers of all stripes, including novelists, poets, and orators.
